Habañero Collective began as a monthly podcast by Brent Thomas and Mark Whiten called the Habanero Hour. In that podcast, we explored the notion of who/what was “Christian” music. We played music by artists who were communicating Christian themes outside of “Contemporary Christian Music,” accompanied by audio interviews with some of those artists. I’m not sure what exists of those podcast files any more, but they might be interesting to dig up some day.

Around 2008, Mark Whiten started hosting concerts at his home. After Brent moved from TX back to AZ, he started doing the same thing and the Habanero Hour morphed into Habañero Collective and so, um, we did cool stuff for a while.
